Young and old alike gather in the heart of LowerTown for organic and
fair-trade coffees and organic teas and to view art from local
students. The coffeehouse features Kirchhoff’s Bakery bagels, homemade
cookies and snacks, specialty gourmet coffee drinks and bubble teas.
Free wireless Internet access, newspapers and a shelf full of games
keep everyone entertained, as do the local musicians and writers who
regularly perform.
Etcetera's Story by Johanna Rhodes
In June of 2005, 320 North 6
th Street was an
asphalt parking lot recently owned by Roth Funeral Chapel. But we (Allan and Johanna Rhodes) envisioned
something else. We weren’t artists, but
as nearly life-long residents of Paducah and supporters of community and arts
development, we felt drawn to be a part of the LowerTown program.
Deciding
that involvement should include an art gallery for students, a coffeehouse and
our primary residence, we put pencil to paper and came up with the concept for
Etcetera.
Today, Etcetera Coffeehouse
and Student Art Gallery offer fair trade and organic coffee and tea drinks,
light refreshments, free WI-FI, gallery space for aspiring student artists, a
venue for local musicians and meeting space for old and young alike seven days
a week.
